We are very excited to welcome award-winning memoirist, Plum Johnson, as the guest speaker at our inaugural ACE Author Series event. She will speak to us about her memoir, They Left Us Everything, a touching story of loss and legacy set right here in Oakville.
After almost 20 years of caring for elderly parents—first for their senile father, and then for their cantankerous 93-year-old mother—author Plum Johnson and her younger brothers experience conflicted feelings of grief and relief when their mother, the surviving parent, dies. Now they must empty and sell the beloved lakeside family home, which hasn’t been de-cluttered in more than half a century. Twenty-three rooms bulge with history, antiques, and oxygen tanks. Plum remembers her loving but difficult parents who could not have been more different from each other.
Johnson won the 2015 RBC Taylor Prize for this book published by Penguin Canada. If you would like your copy of the book signed, please bring it to the talk.
Join us for what promises to be a wonderfully moving evening with a great speaker!
