  • Oakville Heritage Walking Tours

    HERITAGE HOUSES OF OLD OAKVILLE: Thursday, July 1 (Canada Day), Sunday August 1st and Sunday September 5, This walk, covering the area bounded by Navy to Reynolds and William to Front Street, features some thirty to forty houses of the old town dating from the 1850s. You will learn the stories of some of the original residents and founders of Oakville.

    MAIN STREET OF OLD OAKVILLE

    Scheduled for Sunday July 11, Sunday August 15th and Sunday August 19th.
    This walk covers the Lakeshore Road commercial area of the original village, once known as Colborne Street, from Navy Street to Trafalgar Road, and features buildings constructed as early as the 1830s. Guides will relate the history of the existing and lost buildings .

    THE HERITAGE OF TRAFALGAR ROAD

    Scheduled Sunday 25th July, Sunday 22nd August and Monday 6th September (Labour Day), this walk begins at St. Johns United Church and proceeds North on Trafalgar and South on Reynolds. This area was home to many of the original prominent citizens and covers a variety of house styles dating from the early 19th century. You will learn of the many early industries, now vanished, which were located here.

    Then Heritage Houses and Main Street walks begin and end at our offices at 110 King Street. Refreshments will be served following the walks and provide an opportunity for discussion.

    Cost of walks is $10 per adult, $5 for children and $25 per family.

    Oakville, ON – Bell Canada and Pratt & Whitney Canada present Youth in the Spotlight during the Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival on Saturday, August 7th. Groups of talented young jazz musicians ranging in age from 13-19 years old will perform on stage Saturday at noon in the Towne Square. On the Centennial Stage at 1:45pm, the High Rendition Jazz Band will delight the crowds with their high performance youth band. This brilliant young award winning band features musicians from high schools in the Oakville, Burlington and Halton area and have been performing together since 2008.
