Borgo Antico Cucina Bar is a new restaurant venture founded by Enzo Campisi, Aldo Campisi , Tino Bianchi and chef Pino Padula. Combined, the four partners have an extensive and impressive resume in the Toronto restaurant scene, dating back to the early 1990’s. All have worked together throughout the early years or their careers and are excited to finally be playing out a greatly anticipated partnership.
Enzo and Aldo Campisi grew up in Cattolica Eraclea a little town in southern Italy where food, family and hospitality were fundamentals. Their passion for food began here, as they were tasked to collect olives and grapes from their land to turn into oil and wine for family gatherings. After working some time in busy restaurants throughout Italy, the Campisi brothers moved to Germany, where Enzo furthered is culinary training and Aldo furthered his schooling in hospitality. After several years they moved to Toronto, where the fine dining restaurant scene was just beginning to take off. Enzo soon worked his way up to management positions in bustling restaurants such as ORO, Aria Ristorante and most recently, Church Apperitivo. For close to twenty years, Aldo who has worked in high profile Italian restaurants such as Milano Grand Hotel Milano, El Tropical Verona Lago Di Garda moving to Toronto to work in fine dining establishments, including a hospitality management position in a popular hotel restaurant.
Tino Bianchi was born in Rome, a city full of world-renowned restaurants, entertainment and style, influencing him from an early age. Tino spent much of his childhood watching his grandmother and mother cook elaborate meals, using old family recipes. Upon moving to Toronto, Tino recognized the need for authentic Italian cuisine, provided in a warm and inviting space and his entrepreneurial spirit was ignited. For over twenty years, Tino has worked in and owned high profile restaurants. His most recent restaurant venture is Nuit Social, in Toronto’s Queen West neighborhood. Nuit Social has quickly become a popular destination in the Toronto restaurant scene and has made numerous top ten lists including Toronto Life Magazine Best of 2015.
Born in Bari Italy, Pino Padula draws upon traditional flavours from the south to the northern regions of Italy. Before moving to Toronto Pino crafted his pizza making skills in the pizza capitol of Italy, Napoli. Upon moving to Toronto, Pino has worked as executive chef in many restaurants in the Toronto Sceene and is now well known as ‘The Chef on 2 Wheels” Pino has a zest for life and a unique cooking yet traditional style he is proud to call his own.
Tino, Enzo, Pino and Aldo have decided to join forces in bringing their passion and knowledge to Oakville with traditional Italian flavors with a little Downtown Toronto Flair in a new restaurant venture: Borgo Antico Cucina Bar.
